To significantly enhance the safety of waterway navigation, marine surveying and constructive activities, the US Coast Guard and the US Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) have built several DGPS sites along select waterways. To date, NAVCEN monitors and controls eight operational DGPS sites that belong to the ACOE.
