Item: The United States Coast Guard has recognized Pole Star Space Applications (Pole Star) as the U.S. testing Application Service Provider (ASP) issuing Conformance Test Reports (CTR) on behalf of the United States. U.S. Vessel owner/operators subject to the LRIT regulation are encouraged to submit a Conformance Test request via the U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center website to start the scheduling process. Vessel owner/operators should also note only the U.S. Coast Guard can initiate requests to Pole Star to schedule and perform LRIT conformance tests.

Item: The National Transportation Safety Board's (NTSB) Safety Research Division is conducting a study to assess the effectiveness of Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) systems operated by the U.S. Coast Guard and is seeking feedback from waterway users that operate within a Coast Guard VTS Area. Item: The GPS Directorate has released a paper informing the public about the recent anomalous behavior of the 'Issue of Data, Clock' (IODC) and the 'Issue of Data, Ephemeris' (IODE) parameters in the GPS broadcast Legacy Navigation(LNAV) messages.   You may read the document here...
Item: The U.S. Coast Guard, the Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have released a Federal Register Notice seeking comment on a proposed plan to reduce the number of Differential GPS sites around the United States, while maintaining coverage in major maritime ports and waterways. The comment period ends on November 16, 2015.
Item: The DHS National Coordinating Center for Communications has issued a paper titled "Best Practices for Leap Second Event Occurring on 30 June 2015." You may view it as a PDF document.
Item: You are invited to visit the 21st Century Waterway Feedback Website to share your comments/feedback on the joint agency initiative that will determine user requirements and emerging needs for navigation information and/or services. The USCG, NOAA, and USACE are collaborating in the eNAV environment to promote safety and efficiency on the Marine Transportation System.
