The SELCAL number is used for radiotelex (sitor). The Maritime Mobile Service Identity
(MMSI) is used for digital selective calling and may also be used for radiotelex.
Note that except for the digital selective calling channels listed at the bottom of
this page, the frequency channels described here are generally not Global Maritime
Distress & Safety System (GMDSS) distress and safety channels. The Coast Guard does
NOT monitor GMDSS radiotelephone or radiotelex channels.
