What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated digital content, such as blogs, news feeds, or podcasts.

Users of RSS content use programs called feed "readers" or "aggregators": the user "subscribes" to a feed by supplying to their reader a link to the feed; the reader can then check the user's subscribed feeds to see if any of those feeds have new content since the last time it checked, and if so, retrieve that content and present it to the user.

What does RSS do?

RSS allows you to view NAVCEN Local Notices to Mariners and Light List Summary of Corrections for each Coast Guard District.

How do I subscribe?

Simply look for the orange RSS icon Picture of RSS Feed Icon throughout the site. Mouse over the image, right-click, and copy the URL. (Choose "Copy Shortcut" for Internet Explorer, "Copy Link Location" for Firefox, or "Copy Link" for Safari.)

In your news reader, select the option that adds a new feed or channel, then paste in the URL and click OK. Click to instantly add content to your page.

If your browser supports it, you can simply click on the RSS icon Picture of RSS Feed Icon in your browser's address bar and select the feed from there.
