FEDERAL REGISTER NOTICE 08-01-2007
The Department of Transportation (Research and Innovative
Technology Administration) and the U.S. Coast Guard request
your comments regarding need to continue to operate the inland
component of the Nationwide Differential Global
Positioning System (NDGPS) Program. Please read
the Federal Register Notice and submit your comments to
the Docket Management
Website.
If you submit a comment, please include your name and address,
identify the docket number for this notice (RITA–2007–28836)
and give the reason for each comment.
Note:
RITA recognizes and the USCG emphasizes that irrespective
of the result of the NDGPS assessment or the PNT Executive
Committee's decision, the Coast Guard will continue to operate,
maintain and manage the Maritime DGPS to meet maritime safety,
navigation, and security mission requirements. The Maritime
DGPS will maintain existing coverage on navigable waters of
the U.S., including the Inland Rivers.
Historically, the Department of Transportation (DOT) has
sponsored the NDGPS and provided funding to the Coast Guard
for operation, maintenance, and construction. Read
