Mariners are advised that this waterway features sharp winding turns, shoaling along the banks, and the presence of private docks and residential structures along the shoreline.  These characteristics, particularly near the Saltwater Barrier and southward, may present navigational challenges for transiting vessels and tows.  For all commercial vessels transiting through this area, consideration should be given to the voyage plan and navigational assessments, provision of suitable lookouts, and awareness of shoals, private docks and residential structures.
